As He is So are We - part 1
Most can intellectually identify with their paternal parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, uncles, and aunts. Because of this innate reality, they may inherit money, property, rights, and privileges. Obviously, this identity is theirs, and they cannot change it because of the union with their family. As we awaken to this absolute truth, we can then begin to discern our rights and privileges as children of God. As sons or children, we are linked with Him through our relationship, His characteristics, which are identical to his mirrored image of himself.
And if sons, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with the Son. Through reconciliation, we have been guaranteed an identity, and we are to believe it as ours now. God, through the resurrection of the cross, has declared us righteous, meaning we have a right standing before God. As this truth becomes a reality to our understanding, we will then begin to act out of our identity as spirits. We frequently miss out on the benefits of our identity as a result of incorrect teachings that foster unbelief or legalism.
This unbelief causes us to see through the eyes of flesh instead of God's eyes. I believe we have been teaching more on striving with God, the dos and don'ts of legalism! If any person is engrafted into the Messiah, he is a new creation, a new creature altogether; the old moral and spiritual condition has passed away. God sees you as justified, declared righteous, sanctified holy, and made complete in Him. The issue is that we are viewing God's redemptive work through the lens of its carnal nature.
